If you climb into a hot-air balloon and travel across this planet ablaze, you’ll see a black cloud stretching as far as the eye can see. If, despite everything, you believe this is not a time for pessimism but rather a time to step forward, this is the place for you. We’re heading into the unknown, driven by the desire for an infinite replication of equality… because nothing that is human is alien to us.
This madness is made possible by a financial institution dedicated to serving enterprises in the social and solidarity economy. A place where decisions are made democratically, which provides constant updates on its work, and whose values align with the emancipatory projects to which it allocates funds. A credit union that applies non-economic criteria to savings and investments: something never seen before.
The rear-guard. A space with 16 beds and four bathrooms. In winter, it serves as a shelter for people sleeping on the streets. In spring and fall, it provides lodging for European activists attending the talks and seminars organized by the Anti-Borders Agency. In summer, cycle tourists and cycling activists can watch the Perseids through the skylight.
Katakrak, No Name Kitchen, L’Aurora Suport, Negu Gorriak DT, Solidary Wheels, and Basoa are launching—together with organizations from other countries on the continent—a European network against racial capitalism and for the abolition of borders. We work on the ground, in the Mediterranean and in our cities. This will be our headquarters, featuring a training room for activists and an archive.
We are an autonomous collective, with a decision-making assembly and a worker-run cooperative. We have no hierarchies or wage stratification. No corporations, government agencies, or political parties whispering in our ears. Our bookstore carries 25,000 titles of critical essays and fiction that defies trends. The canteen serves organic, locally sourced, and fair-trade products. The study center focuses on political education and militant research. The event hall hosts cultural and social events. The books from our publishing house can be downloaded for free, because we believe in the commons
Our social center for climate disobedience. It features a bike cleaning and maintenance area. It offers mechanics courses. It designs routes and activities in urban, suburban, and rural areas. In collaboration with La Ciclería de Zaragoza, it brings biking to schools. If you can’t pedal, it’s not our revolution.
It covers 450 m² and is the largest in the Old Town, but this one isn’t private. Few events are held here, and they’re respectful of the neighborhood. In the shade of its two maple trees, you’ll hear puppet shows and string quartets, strike committees will hold debates, Critical Mass vermouth gatherings will take place, and the metaphors of the bertsolaris will climb up to the roof through the drainpipes.
